Lesson 99 of 170 · Level 4 of 6All lessons
In this lesson

You are learning nostalgia, norms, and deep feeling: you will read the scene it happens in, learn 10 words and phrases, take apart the pattern behind them (ものだ for nostalgia, general truths, and emotional emphasis), hear them in a conversation, rehearse them, and finish by saying one thing out loud to be graded.

The scene

An old izakaya in Shitamachi (downtown Tokyo), listening to the master reminisce about postwar food culture

Sixty Years Under the Noren
