The scene

Comparing ramen shops in Tokyo — Afuri's yuzu shio versus Fuunji's tsukemen. Every Tokyoite has a ramen opinion. Now you have the grammar to share yours.

The Ramen Debate

In Tokyo, ramen loyalty runs deep. Afuri in Ebisu serves yuzu shio ramen — light, citrus-bright, clear as consomme. Fuunji in Shinjuku serves tsukemen — thick, murky, punchy fish broth with heavy noodles. They are opposites. You must choose.

The stranger sat with two friends at a cheap izakaya. The debate began. One friend loved Afuri. Light, clean, refreshing.

The other preferred Fuunji. Rich, bold, filling.

The stranger? He liked both. But today he felt like yuzu shio. Spicy ramen? A bit much. The friends laughed. The debate would never end.
