The stranger looks at Mei, Wei, and Xiao Lin. Five days ago he arrived knowing 你好 and 谢谢. Now he can plan, invite, book, toast, argue about the bill, navigate a wet market, and eat crawfish at midnight without flinching.
「我敬大家一杯，」 he stands. 「感谢你们这五天。这是我最难忘的美食之旅。越了解上海，越舍不得走。」
Mei raises her cup: 「下次再来！秋天来吃大闸蟹。」 Wei adds: 「保持联系！」 Xiao Lin laughs: 「如果你不来，我们就去你那里。」
「后会有期，」 the stranger says. Until we meet again. He means it.
