Lesson 13 of 150 · Level 1 of 6All lessons
In this lesson

You will read the scene it happens in, learn 10 words and phrases, take apart the pattern behind them (taste/texture vocabulary + poder for requests), hear them in a conversation, rehearse them, and finish by saying one thing out loud to be graded.

The scene

Quesería Cultivo, Calle Silva, Malasaña. One of Madrid's best specialist cheese shops. The embutido counter next door: jamón, chorizo, morcilla, lomo. You need texture and taste vocabulary to navigate both.

Busco Algo Cremoso

Elena lleva diez años visitando queserías en toda España. Su tienda en Malasaña tiene cuarenta variedades artesanales. Cuando alguien entra, no pregunta qué quiere — pregunta qué le gusta.

« Busco algo para esta noche. Una tabla para cuatro personas. » Elena asiente. « ¿Prefieres curado o fresco? ¿Suave o fuerte? »

« Cremoso y no demasiado fuerte. Y algo con carácter. » Elena sonríe — descripción perfecta para la torta del Casar y el idiazábal ahumado.

Cuando el extranjero prueba la torta, es fundente y exactamente la intensidad que quería. « ¿Con qué lo acompaño? » — « Miel de romero y membrillo. Y un rioja joven. »

Sale con tres quesos y chorizo cortado fino. La noche va a ser buena.
