You are learning basic comparisons: you will read the scene it happens in, take apart the pattern behind them (comparative with hon), hear them in a conversation, rehearse them, and finish by saying one thing out loud to be graded.
Comparing two bun bo stalls on the same street in Hai Ba Trung. Same dish, different flavors. The comparative marker hon lets you say which is better, tastier, cheaper.
Two bun bo shops face each other across a narrow lane in Hai Ba Trung. The stranger eats at both in one morning — small bowl at each.
Shop A: the broth is lighter, the noodles thinner, the herbs fresher. Shop B: the broth is darker, richer, the meat portions bigger.
「Nuoc dung quan A thanh hon quan B. Nhung quan B dam da hon nhieu.」
He asks the woman at Shop A: 「Chi oi, quan chi va quan ben kia — cai nao ngon hon?」 She laughs. 「Quan toi ngon hon nhieu! Nuoc dung tuoi hon, rau thom nhieu hon!」
He crosses to Shop B. Same question. Same answer, reversed. 「Quan toi to hon, thit nhieu hon, gia re hon!」
Both are right. Both are ngon. But the stranger now knows: Shop A's broth is thanh hon, Shop B's portions are to hon. He has comparison words. He has opinions.
