You are learning becoming a regular: you will read the scene it happens in, take apart the pattern behind them (shopping sequence + regular status), hear them in a conversation, rehearse them, and finish by saying one thing out loud to be graded.
Saturday morning: Union Square Greenmarket → Chelsea Market → coffee → neighborhood walk. The vocabulary of a market regular. 150 words — New York's food world is yours.
The stranger now has a Saturday route. He's been in New York for three weeks.
First: tomatoes from the New Jersey farm — the same farmer who gave him the sample on his first visit. Now she knows his face. "The heirlooms are perfect this week." She says it before he asks. He buys two pounds.
Then: cheese from Murray's. He knows what he wants: the Vermont cheddar, aged two years. "Same as usual?" The cheesemonger asks. He smiles. "Same as usual."
Finally: coffee at a small place on 17th Street. The barista has his order written on the counter before he finishes walking in. Medium latte, oat milk.
He sits outside with his coffee, his tomatoes, his cheese, and the Saturday noise of the city. He thinks: I love New York. He means every word.
