Inviting friends to dinner at a new restaurant in Williamsburg

Getting the Group Together

A new restaurant opened in Williamsburg last week -- a farm-to-table place with great reviews. I wanted to go, so I texted my friends. 'Hey, want to check out that new place in Williamsburg this Friday? My treat for the appetizers.'

Maya responded first: 'Sounds great! Count me in. What time?' I said, 'How about seven-thirty?' She said, 'I can make it at eight. Is that okay?' I told her eight works.

I texted Carlos next. He said, 'I'm down! Can my roommate join us? He's new to the city.' I said, 'Of course! The more the merrier.' Then I asked Priya. She said, 'I'd love to, but I have plans Friday. Can I take a rain check?'

By Thursday, we had four people confirmed. I made a reservation. I texted the group: 'All set for Friday at 8 p.m. Williamsburg, near the Bedford stop. Don't eat too much at lunch -- save room!' Carlos replied, 'Can't wait. Let's do this.' Friday was going to be a great night.
