In this lesson

You are learning superlatives: you will read the scene it happens in, take apart the pattern behind them (the + most/best/worst + noun), hear them in a conversation, rehearse them, and finish by saying one thing out loud to be graded.

The scene

Ranking NYC foods — the best bagel, the best pizza, the best coffee. New Yorkers rank everything. Superlatives let you participate in the city's most passionate conversations.

My NYC Food Rankings — After Two Months

After two months in New York, I finally have my rankings. My friends keep asking, so here it is — my top five.

The best pizza: Joe's Pizza. Hands down. The cheapest and the most satisfying slice in Manhattan.

The best sandwich: Katz's Deli pastrami on rye. The most legendary deli in America. It's the best sandwich I've ever had. A game-changer.

The best bagel: Russ & Daughters on Houston Street. Bagel with lox. Iconic. A must-try.

The best cookie: Levain Bakery. Chocolate chip walnut. The biggest, richest cookie in the city. People wait in line for this.

The best hidden gem: a taco truck on Roosevelt Avenue in Jackson Heights, Queens. The most authentic tacos outside of Mexico. Five dollars for the best meal in the city.

The worst food? Anything in Times Square. Total tourist trap.
