You are learning sharing opinions: you will read the scene it happens in, learn 10 words and phrases, take apart the pattern behind them (opinion phrases (i think / i believe / in my opinion / if you ask me)), hear them in a conversation, rehearse them, and finish by saying one thing out loud to be graded.
A heated discussion: New York pizza vs. Chicago deep dish
I was at a party in Brooklyn last weekend. Someone brought up pizza -- and that's when the debate started. My friend Jake is from Chicago. He said, 'Chicago deep dish is the real pizza. New York pizza is just bread with cheese.'
I couldn't believe it. I said, 'No way. If you ask me, deep dish isn't even pizza. It's a casserole.' Everyone laughed. Jake said, 'I see your point, but deep dish has way more flavor. The layers of cheese, the thick sauce, the buttery crust...'
To be honest, he made a good argument. But in my opinion, you can't beat a New York slice. It's simple, it's fast, you fold it and eat it on the street. That's pizza. I think the best food doesn't need to be complicated.
Jake said, 'Fair enough. But come to Chicago and try Giordano's. Then tell me what you think.' I said, 'Deal. But I'm bringing you to Di Fara first.' We shook hands. The pizza war continued, but at least we agreed on one thing: pizza is the best food in the world.
