Smorgasburg food market, ranking vendors and dishes
I've been to Smorgasburg five times now, and I'm ready to give my final rankings. I've tried over twenty vendors. Some were incredible. Some were underwhelming. Here are my superlatives.
The tastiest dish: the birria tacos from the Mexican vendor. Hands down. The tortilla was crispy, the meat was tender, and the consomme for dipping was to die for. The most creative dish: the ramen burger. It's weird, but it works. The standout experience overall.
Best bang for your buck: the empanadas. Three dollars for a giant, perfectly fried empanada loaded with meat and cheese. The cheapest AND the most satisfying. The most overpriced: the lobster roll. Sixteen dollars for a tiny portion. Underwhelming.
The least impressive overall was a gourmet hot dog that cost twelve dollars. It was just a hot dog. The nicest vendor was the Thai iced tea woman -- she was the friendliest person at the entire market. Overall, Smorgasburg is the most exciting food experience in Brooklyn. Every visit, I find the most unexpected flavors.
