Calling to make a dinner reservation at a popular NYC restaurant

Booking the Perfect Table

I wanted to take my parents to a nice restaurant for their anniversary. They were visiting New York for the first time. I needed to make a reservation at a popular Italian place in the West Village.

I called the restaurant. 'Hi, I'd like to make a reservation for Saturday evening, please.' The host said, 'Sure. How many in your party?' I said, 'Party of four.' She asked, 'What time were you thinking?' I said, 'Seven-thirty?' She said, 'Hold on, let me check... I'm sorry, seven-thirty is full. We have availability at six or eight-thirty.'

I chose eight-thirty. She asked, 'Under what name?' I gave her my name. Then she asked, 'Any dietary restrictions?' I told her my mom is vegetarian. She said, 'No problem, we have great vegetarian options. You're all set for Saturday at eight-thirty, party of four.'

On Saturday, I called back to confirm. 'Hi, I'm calling to confirm a reservation under my name for tonight.' She checked and confirmed everything. We arrived on time, and the evening was perfect. My parents loved it.
