Brooklyn Brewery taproom, Williamsburg, Friday evening
Last Friday, my roommate and I went to the Brooklyn Brewery in Williamsburg. It's a big taproom with long wooden tables and an industrial vibe. The place was packed -- Friday nights always are.
My roommate is really into craft beer. I'm more of a beginner. She asked me, 'Which do you like better, light or dark beer?' I said, 'I don't know. I usually just drink whatever is there.' She laughed and said, 'Let's get a flight so you can try different ones.'
We ordered a flight of four beers. The first was a lager -- smooth and light. The second was an IPA -- way too bitter for me. The third was a wheat beer -- fruity and refreshing. The fourth was a dark stout -- rich and creamy. My roommate asked, 'So, which one do you like better?'
I picked the wheat beer. She preferred the stout. We ordered full pints of our favorites and sat at a long communal table. We ended up talking to the people next to us -- a couple from Germany. We compared American beer to German beer. It was a great night. Cheers to Brooklyn.
