एक दुकान पर हलवाई कबाब बना रहा था। तंदूर की आग चमक रही थी। धुआँ उठ रहा था। मसालों की खुशबू आ रही थी। मैं वहीं रुक गया।
मैंने सीख कबाब और रुमाली रोटी ऑर्डर किया। इंतज़ार करते हुए मैं लोगों को देख रहा था। बच्चे कुल्फ़ी खा रहे थे। बूढ़े लोग चाय पी रहे थे।
कबाब आए। गरम और रसीले थे। मैं खड़े-खड़े खा रहा था। बगल में एक आदमी फ़ालूदा पी रहा था। उसने कहा 'भाई, यहाँ हर रात ईद है।' सच में।
